We were at Rooster's Restaurant last night after I took the girls to get their hair cut. Riley had spent some time counting the 19 plus TV's in the place. At one point she stopped and looked thoughtful for a moment.
"This looks like a beer bar," she said.
"Yeah, I guess so," I replied.
"Why are all these men are here watching TV and drinking beer when they could be at home having fun, you know, talking?"
"That's a question for the ages, my dear," I replied.
Hee, "beer bar." I love the adjective added for clarity!!
ReplyDeleteHas she noticed that EVERYPLACE has 19 televisions, including Applebee's and Wallie-World?
I wonder when she'll realize that drinking at HOME is cheaper than at the pub?? TV's are getting a lot cheaper-- I'm sure you could pick up a dozen or so more, put 2 in every room and tune 'em all to different channels...
Which will be more difficult, trying to explain men or having the sex talk?
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I'm with the guys on this one for the social interaction and visual stimulation of a beer bar, I can sit and home and drink and watch TV any time. Guess a lot of that depends on who's back at home, too. haha!
ReplyDeleteSuch wisdom
ReplyDeleteBut they are only gone for twenty minutes, right?
ReplyDeleteCap'n: Riley's nothing if not specific.
ReplyDeleteSD: The sex talk. But my work has prepared me difficult conversations. You just have to hold on to your guts and know that this soon shall pass.
Genn: Good point! I'll make sure I advise her to choose her friends/spouse wisely.
Gifted Typist: I've struggled with whether this is wisdom or not. It just sounded like a conversation that I would have had with a much older person. I guess that counts.
GKL: From your lips to God's ears.
I pray someday I have a daughter and that she's at least a little like Riley.
