Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!

I've recently found my copy of Buddy Rich's Mercy, Mercy CD and have loaded it up on my iTunes at work. It rocks. I highly recommend it.

He's a jazz drummer. I'll see if I can find a youtube for you to watch when you get home.

You won't be disappointed in this album. We played Mercy, Mercy in marching band and Big Mama Cass in jazz band. As a player, this music transported me to a higher level of thinking and proficiency. It was really precise yet funky.

Hearing it again today has helped me to focus more on what I'm doing and it has brought joy to an otherwise dreary morning.

I highly recommend it.

Buddy Rich's "Mercy Mercy" was the number one album on Modern Drummer Magazine's list of 25 best all-time drum records.

I agree that it's a great one!

Ok, we are communicating musically in a very strange way.

I used to be a percussionist in a drum corp and watched this same video on YouTube a few nights ago. From Magnets to Steel to Buddy Rich.....HA!

Has anyone ever heard the tapes of Buddy Rich berating his band? They may be #1 on my list of the best unintentional comedy moments in history.

"I CAN GET AN ALL-L.A. BAND TOMORROW...TOMORROW!"

Fabulous!
