Takin' A Trip To Lullabye Land

It's late. Let's face it. 11:00 p.m. and the girls are still up. Too wound up for bed.
"Ok, girls," I said, "Finish your milk and prepare for a trip to Lullabye Land."
"Oooh! Lullabye Land!" said Riley, "I love to go to Lullabye Land!"
"What's in Lullabye Land?" I asked.
"Unicorns!" Riley cheered.
"Horses!" said Lucy.
"Unicorns are horses," Riley explained.
"No," I corrected, "horses don't have horns."
"Oh."
"What else is in Lullabye Land?"
Riley says: "The sidewalks are made of chocolate and you can't walk on it. You have to lick your way down the street! And the street is made of bubble gum and you chomp it!"
"Chocolate sidewalk! I'm tiptoeing through the goo!" said Lucy, as she tiptoed around the kitchen.
Eventually, I corralled them in bed. Riley said sleepily, "Do you want me to tell you the story of Lullabye Land?"
"No, I want you to dream about it and tell me what you saw in the morning."
"Ok," she said.
"Good-night, Sweetie, I love you." I said as I closed the door.
"I love you too."

You should've driven to Hershey Park while they were asleep. Then they would've woken up on a chocolate street.

Is woken a word? I'm too lazy to pick up the dictionary.

Are they too young to have their own blogs?

Beautiful Flannery. I used to have dreams like that back when I experimented with "pharmaceuticals".

I wouldn't worry too much about inflating their expectations. My mom told me fantastic stories that made real life seem bitter and colorless, and it did not screw me up at all.

But I always have a heartattack when my kids stay up that late.

My brother was worrying about my niece this past weekend. He thinks she is adorable, but understands that as her father he is grossly biased. I explained that as her uncle, I was pretty biased myself. However, in you case I can say objectively that those are some damned cute kids.

Elizabeth, it does!

Beckeye, I think it's a word, but I'm also too lazy to look it up.

Dale, anytime, baby.

Chris, We took the kids to see the Simpsons movie tonight and the kids loved it. They were so funny, the way they were talking about their favorite parts. I asked Rile, "Can I video tape you talking about this movie and post it on my blog?" She said, "No, you cannot." Alas, I don't see a blog in her future, but I'll keep trying. Lucy on the other hand...

Thanks, SD, and I'll bet you did!

That's a comfort, Vikki.

Me too, Grant Miller. I always find myself wanting to drop to my knees, throw my hands in the air, look at the sky and yell, "Why?!?"

Thanks, Evil Genius...

tiptoeing through the goo. That's exactly what you'd get 'bout this time of year, too!!

Meanwhile, that "no, I want YOU to dream about it and tell ME in the AM" was sheer fucking genius for getting the hell OUT of there at bedtime. Have you been reading business management books again??

Damn, these neurotypical kids be cute!!
