I'm About To Go Into A Meeting...

...Where they will lay me off. I love how long it takes a bureacracy to catch up to reality.

Does this mean that the timing on your new job worked so that you didn't have to quit your old one before they laid you off? That is genius!

Could you please, please, please yell at them "YOU CAN'T FIRE ME BECAUSE I QUIT." I've always wanted to say that but never could because I lack the balls.

Sadly, my boss broke the news to HR before I could, so no theatrics.

Once upon a time, I had a particularly horrible job. They wanted me to do all of the work for a design position, but not give me the raise or the title. I trained... everybody. Management was evil. Eventually I was pissed off beyond the point of no return and I quit and started my own freelance graphic design company.

A few months later, they had to come crawling back to me to ask me to do freelance for them to bail them out of the enormous hole they were in because nobody there could do the things I had been doing.

I declined.

It felt even better than you're imagining it did.
